I am an Assistant Professor of Public Affairs at the La Follette School at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I received a Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University.
My research focuses on race/ethnicity, urban sociology, organizations, and social policy. I am currently writing an ethnography of a multiethnic neighborhood in Chicago, which speaks to ongoing debates about the consequences of ethnic/racial diversity for social relations and civic participation. In other research, I examine participatory budgeting, skin color and racial inequalities in the United States and Latin America.
My work has been supported by the Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
